Little Greene is delighted to have been announced as the official paint sponsor of hello future – a new ambitious development project from Manchester Museum. The museum, which is part of The University of Manchester, is undertaking this £15 million project to transform its historic building into an inclusive, imaginative and caring space for the diverse communities it serves.

First opened in 1890, Manchester Museum is the UK’s largest university museum and is based in an impressive building designed by renowned architect, Alfred Waterhouse. Having closed its doors to the public in August 2021, the museum plans to reopen in February 2023 when it will unveil a two-storey extension with exciting new exhibitions.

As part of this project, Little Greene is collaborating with designers, The Artistry House, in the creation of a new welcome area, shop, café, picnic area, Main Hall and Belonging Gallery. The museum is committed to making these areas inclusive and sustainable, as well as providing inspiring spaces for a variety of uses.

Our Creative Director, Ruth Mottershead, is thrilled about the partnership: “We’re delighted to be working with Manchester Museum to create a really engaging, vibrant space for visitors to enjoy. Manchester Museum is such an important landmark in our city and it is a real privilege to provide paint for this project. The selected colours include some beautiful shades like ‘Goblin,’ ‘Nether Red’ and ‘Bassoon’ from our colour palette that will provide a really inspiring backdrop.”

Esme Ward, Director of Manchester Museum, described the project: “We’re incredibly grateful to Little Greene for being our official paint sponsor as we progress towards the opening of a transformed Manchester Museum. This project is about so much more than collections and objects – it’s about creating a warm and welcoming environment where everyone belongs, and design is integral to that. We’re also committed to building a more sustainable world and it’s essential that we work with suppliers whose values align with ours.”
