Little Greene

We are delighted to announce that our flattest, chalkiest paint finish has received a huge upgrade to its eco credentials. Absolute Matt Emulsion is now made up of 40% high-quality, recycled ingredients, combining a velvety, dead-flat finish with a sustainable formulation that’s kind to your home and kind to our environment.

Learn more about this upgrade and discover our signature flat finish, Absolute Matt Emulsion…

Now, 40% of every tin of Absolute Matt Emulsion is made from completely recycled ingredients. The eco improvement is thanks to the introduction of a new, high-quality resin – the bit that binds all the ingredients together.

With this upgrade, you won’t notice any difference to the sumptuous, velvety, dead-flat finish of Absolute Matt Emulsion. It has a ‘barely-there’ low sheen of only 1-2%, perfect for bringing a beautiful depth of colour to interior walls and ceilings.

Our Creative Director, Ruth, writes: “At Little Greene we are on a permanent mission to improve product quality. We always to do it hand-in-hand with improving the sustainability of our offer and reducing our carbon footprint. It’s in our culture to take great care about what we do.

Absolute Matt Emulsion is our signature flat finish and the perfect fit for beautiful, considered homes, where the interplay of light and sumptuous depth of colour can completely transform the ambience of the room. We are thrilled that this transformative paint finish is now even better for the planet too.”

Eco credentials

The new upgrade is just one aspect of Absolute Matt Emulsion’s eco credentials. With a water-based formula, Absolute Matt Emulsion has zero added VOCs and virtually no odour. Each tin is proudly manufactured in our own small paint factory in North Wales – even the paint in our sample pots, which are all poured by hand. Much of the process is still undertaken by the hands of time-served craftspeople, rather than automated machines.

Absolute Matt Emulsion is a quick-drying paint that’s certified child-safe, so you can use it with confidence around little ones, with minimal disruption to family life. It offers unparalleled coverage (14m2 per litre), meaning fewer tins are required to transform your walls, reducing our carbon footprint. The paint tins also contain over 50% recycled metal, and can be recycled again upon disposal.

Ruth writes: “The VOC content in all our water-based paints is now so low that it’s considered negligible. This means all our water-based finishes are environmentally friendly, completely child-safe, low in odour and quick to dry.

Cleaning up requires no specialist solvents or cleansers; simply rinse brushes in clean water. Safe to use in every room, including nurseries, Little Greene remains one of the most environmentally thoughtful options available for decorating the home.”

Our flattest, chalkiest paint

With an incredibly flat finish that’s gently wipeable, Absolute Matt Emulsion is perfect for low-traffic parts of the home. This beautiful, chalky paint adds breathtaking character to walls and ceilings in bedrooms, snugs, dining rooms and study areas. It’s an excellent choice for spaces where you’re seeking an element of luxury for your scheme.

Available in our complete colour palette, Absolute Matt Emulsion can enhance the appearance of any shade. It feels especially rich and sumptuous in darker hues, and beautifully chalky in delicate muted colours like Masquerade or Clay. Made with the finest natural ingredients, this finish affords a real depth of colour that can’t be matched by other, more synthetic paints.
